GOT MOOSE?

LET THE COUNT DOWN BEGIN IN 2009!

Out with the old and in with the new ...... our countdown for getting out of Alaska has begun and we are READY for change!

In FIFTY DAYS we will be packing out of our house, allowed 3 days to do this by the military, and moving into Temporary Lodging at Fort Wainwright.

We'll spend a couple of days there so Scott can outprocess the base/post. Then we're off .... back to the lower 48 states! WE ARE READY TO GET GOING!

Our whirlwind vacation plans will start in Las Vegas at Circus Circus (they've made the city "family friendly" over the years). We'll spend a few days there, jump on a plane for California where we'll be taking a SEVEN DAY MEXICAN RIVIERA CRUISE! Sun and fun ..... course I'm sporting an Alaskan tan so I'll be blinding the whole ship! (I may need to set aside some time to brown up a little before we go. Not sure WHERE I'll fit that in but I'll add to the list of things to do).

After the cruise we're flying to Phoenix where we'll pick up our truck and camper. Spend a few days visiting family and we're off again to our final destination/home, which is back in Rocky Mountains .... Colorado!

Being a military family, there is this place in time, where your house is completely packed up and you no longer have a "home" to call your own ..... like "Limbo" .... you don't belong in Alaska any more but you aren't settled into a new place either. You have no where to be, no where to go ..... I remember when this made me nervous/anxious. But through the years I've learned, this time is actually a wonderful gift. You can't worry about anything because you have no control over the outcome. Whatever is meant to be, will be.

The ticker has started and until this "peaceful gift of time" arrives, the stress of getting out of here into that blissful time zone is absolutely crazy! Especially when the weather has been dipping down to -50 every day! Regardless, knowing there is hope at the end of this chaos is worth every bit of craziness we face on this side of the move. Let's get on with it then ..........
